What alternatives are available to copy CDs?

There are several different methods available to make one or multiple copies of existing CDs or DVD ranging from single CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R/W and CD-R/RW recorders to specialized devices that automatically duplicate and label discs and, for large runs, commercial mass replication. Options are distinguished by cost, speed, turn around time, convenience and capability. When dealing with commercial software and audio discs keep in mind copyright laws and that copy protection systems may be employed to hinder straightforward duplication.

In contrast to CD/DVD duplication which is usually performed on a small scale at the desktop level, CD/DVD mass replication is typically used to make huge quantities of discs such as commercial audio CDs, software CD-ROMs and DVD Movies. These prerecorded (pressed) discs are manufactured from a mold in a factory setting and are created using a series of industrial processes including premastering, mastering, electroplating, injection molding, metallization, spin coating, printing and advanced quality control. In addition to manufacturing discs many replication companies offer companion services including packaging, printing, distribution and fulfillment.

The CDs and DVDs are typically printed in full color using CYMK plus white flood. You can have up to 6 Pantone colors on the Disc if you like. The printing process is an environmentally responsible that combines the highest standards of performance with unmatched value.

Digital or Offset

We print both digital, Silk Screen and offset on Disc. I personally like Silk Screen for Solid colors like Pantone colors and Offset for Pictures on Disc. Digital Printing (Thermal Re-Transfer) is great for short runs and Variable data printing (VDP) digital. Digital has a gloss finish and more versatile and it has a wider color gamut.

How Long does it take:

The actual printing and manufacturing time is 5-7 days, without rush fees. With Rush fees you can have the discs replicated within one day after you approve the PDF proof. Frankly we make money from Rush orders. How fast can we make it, how about few hours. Don’t assume it can’t be done, but I guarantee you, it will cost more 🙂 Go ahead make me some money and call (800) 819-3362. Just remember I am motivated to ship it on time, otherwise I do not get paid for the rush service and you get it for free. Yo will still have to pay of for the discs but not the rush fee.
